Monkey Lord have teamed up with FXpansion to bring you another Jam With Stick competition where the backing track is entirely produced in BFD ECO (which is £99 of BFD win!), with Stick triggering it with a Roland TD-20. This goes to show you don’t need to spend hundreds of pounds to have great sounding drum tracks.

How to Enter

• Download the backing track from this link. Right-click the link and then left-click “Save target as”/”Save link as”.
• Video yourself jamming along to the track. We must be able to see your hands throughout the video.
• Upload your video to YouTube and submit it as a response to the competition video.
• Ensure your video contains the following tags when you publish it to YouTube: “bfd, bfd2, bfd eco, fxpansion, stick, mr stick monkey, monkey lord”.

So what happens when you cram too much awesome into one person? You blow out an eardrum. Chappers is still in the process of recouperating after his left eardrum blew out earlier this month. That hasn’t stopped him from posting to his YouTube channel. Between the excellent rock being recorded, and Chapman Guitars releasing the first 500 limited edition ML1 guitars it’s a wonder Chappers whole head didn’t explode from pure win.

Monkey Lord is a band that believes in sharing, and not just the foul stench of curry farts and sweaty armpits. As tons of lucky fans discovered recently – you can watch the band practicing and recording via a live video stream. Keep an eye on the home page and in the forums for a chance to catch the next show. And if you are wondering what Stick is doing during the video streams, head on over to his YouTube channel and watch his great tutorials on using the FXpansions BFD2 plugin to track drum parts for Monkey Lord.

Meanwhile, in the land of the Monkey Minions – also known as the MLF the win continues to grow. Hot off the mixing board and served up to YouTube is the latest Monkey Minion Collaboration in Drop D . The track features Dr. Karnivore, Sted, Cderycke, Meanomachine, Voodoorider, Fredtheshred, Grey, Monty, and Walliman for 8:40 of fun and musical mayhem.

The first full-band single from Monkey Lord, Breath is a heavy rock classic from the school of Soundgarden/Alice in Chains, and is about Rob learning how to sing. Breath was produced and mastered by Eddie Kramer at LAFX, Hollywood.

All of Monkey Lord’s music is compressed to a 320kbps MP3, and upon purchasing you will receive an e-mail containing a link to download the file.

1. Subscribe to Stick’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/MrStickMonkey).
2. Download the competition MP3 from this link (right click to save).
3. Video yourself jamming to the downloaded MP3 (hands must be visible throughout the video).
4. Upload your take as a Video Response to the competition video, containing the tags “silent noise cables, paul annis, stick monkey, monkey lord”.

Stick will be judging the video based on the groove, feel and rhythm of the playing, so the video doesn’t necessarily have to be a shred-fest. Players of all abilities are welcome to enter.

Last entries will be taken on Sunday 31st of January, 2010, and the winner will be announced in the following week.

These 40 minute videos contain everything you wish to learn, plus a special message from Chappers in LA/Hollywood, where he will be attending the NAMM show and shooting a DVD with Eddie Kramer. Imagine having a private lesson with Chappers, and the ability to watch what he teaches over and over again. It’s the next best thing to kidnapping him and keeping him in your closet for lessons (trust us – the DVD eats way less than Chappers!)
